About

Aubree working at a dress form in her sewing studio.

I'm Aubree. Alongside my dressmaking work, I've spent a fair amount of time in and around UK weddings - altering gowns, sitting through register office appointments with friends, and fielding the same questions over and over from brides who couldn't find a straight answer anywhere. This site is my attempt to actually answer them, in one place, specific to the UK.

Most wedding planning content online is American, or vague enough to apply to nowhere in particular. That's a problem here, because so much of what actually matters - how notice works, whether a ceremony is legally binding, what a venue is allowed to do - depends on whether you're marrying in England, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, and the differences are bigger than most sites let on. I've tried to be specific about that everywhere it matters, and to flag clearly where a page applies UK-wide versus where it doesn't.

The Dress & Attire section is where my day job shows up most directly - real talk about alteration timelines, what fabric actually does in a British summer that might not be sunny, and when made-to-measure is worth the money and when it isn't.

This site is written for the bride specifically, first person, opinions included. Where I'd do something differently than the "standard" advice, I've said so and said why.

No CMS, no accounts, no comment section - just Markdown files I write and edit directly. The one exception is the planning checklist, which saves your progress in your browser only; there's no login, so it won't follow you to another device.
